Kirby Yale sent the webmaster this message: "I own an avocado grove and we just cut down a number of trees. I have a
good amount of large avocado wood, including trunks and crotch wood, that I
would like to give to carvers/turners who want it. Let me know if you are
interested. I am in Ventura County, just outside Camarillo." |

Mrs. Judy Kersthold is offering to sell these four sets of carving tools that belonged to her husband, a woodcarver who passed away two years ago. The tool sets were manufactured by Bracht, Marples, and Herring Bros of London., and an unknown manufacturer. Mrs. Kerthold says the Herring Bros. set was left to her husband by the carver who did the famous carvings at the Madonna Inn. (Click on the Images below to enlarge.)

Hello, Carvers. I have started an e-mail group called California Carvers. This is a Yahoo! group I have added that is open to carvers throughout California. The site provides for group members to share their carving photos, links, information on carving. It allows for email contact between group members where if a question or comment is posted in the group it can be sent to all members of the group via email if they so choose. It is a great communication tool and provides fellowship between the carvers of California. I will facilitate the group as owner and will draw on group members to act as moderators as the group grows. I think this will be a great tool for the CCG and look forward to your reply. You can have a look at the California Carvers Group here, and sign up right now if you wish. You'll need to sign up with Yahoo! if you don't already have an account, but it's free and it's easy.
